My roommate called me out for buying $6 avocados and it made me rethink my whole grocery list

Last Tuesday, my roommate Jenny saw my receipt from the local co-op and laughed at the $6 avocado on there. She said I could get three whole bags of frozen veggies for that same money and they'd actually fill me up. At first I got defensive, but then I looked at my pantry and realized I spend way too much on trendy ingredients that don't stretch meals. Have any of you had a moment where someone pointed out a huge money leak in your kitchen routine?
