Pro tip: I was wasting so much money on fresh herbs until my friend pointed it out

I always bought those little plastic packs of cilantro for my tacos, but they'd go bad in a few days. My friend saw me toss a wilted bunch and said, 'You know you can freeze that, right?' I chop them, put them in an ice cube tray with water, and now I have herb cubes for months. What other little tricks have you found to stop wasting food?

Ever try that with green onions? I slice them thin and freeze them flat on a baking sheet before tossing them in a bag. They stay separate and you can just grab a pinch for eggs or soup.

Does the ginger trick work with the tougher root ends of the green onions too?

Absolutely love this trick, it changed my game with parsley too. @the_aaron has the right idea with the baking sheet method for green onions, that keeps them from clumping. I do the same thing with ginger, grate a whole root and freeze it flat. Saves me from buying those little nubs that dry out in the fridge.
