Rant: my rice cooker quit on a $9 bag of chicken thighs night
The cooker died right after I dumped in two cups of rice and a whole bag of thighs for a big batch dinner, so I was stuck with raw rice and meat at 6pm on a Saturday in my tiny kitchen. I ended up moving everything to a pot on the stove, adding about a cup more broth than the cooker would've used, and simmering it low for 40 minutes with the lid on, and honestly it came out fine for about $7 total. Now I'm wondering if there's a cheaper stove method for rice and meat together that doesn't need watching, since that pot needed stirring every few minutes?
