Rice and pasta are basically the same price per pound but one is way more filling - how do you decide?
I was looking at bulk prices at WinCo yesterday and saw white rice at $0.68 per pound vs pasta at $0.79 per pound, which is basically nothing. But then I checked calories per dollar and rice barely beats pasta there too. So when you're stretching a grocery budget to feed 3 people for a week, do you lean rice or pasta and why?

Wait, is pasta really only 0.68 cents cheaper per pound? lol I feel like I always see rice way under that, like 50 cents a pound for the big bags at Walmart. But yeah, rice is way more filling for me too because it absorbs all the liquid and kind of blows up in your stomach, whereas pasta feels like it just slides through. You can also stretch rice further by adding a ton of broth and veggies to make it into a soup or something, which is harder to do with pasta because it gets too mushy.

Oh totally, I had to do this exact math last month when I was trying to stretch our groceries. Rice wins for me because it goes with so many things, like beans or veggies, and a little bag lasts forever. Pasta feels lighter so my family eats more of it and then wants snacks an hour later, which defeats the whole budget thing. Plus I can toss rice in the slow cooker with broth and meat and get two meals out of it easy.
