Rice cooker for beans changed my mind after years of hating on it
I swore for like 5 years that rice cookers were just for rice and you’re wasting money if you try anything else. My buddy Mike brought his over last month and made black beans from dry in about 90 minutes with zero watching or stirring. I was dead wrong. It came out way softer and creamier than my stove ever did, and I didn’t have to babysit it while packing orders. Anyone else have a gadget they thought was trash until someone made you try it?

Dude this is literally me with my instant pot. I used to roast people who talked about them but my sister forced me to try making pinto beans and now I use it like twice a week. Way less mess than the stove and I can just walk away and forget about it. What was your biggest surprise switching over?

Hold up, you're saying 90 minutes is an improvement? My stove does black beans in about 60 minutes with maybe two stirs. And a rice cooker is another gadget taking up counter space that never gets used besides this one trick. A pot and a lid works fine for beans, no extra appliance needed.

Right, because who needs another gadget when you can just babysit a pot of beans for an hour like it's a toddler on a sugar high. Rice cookers are for people who forgot how to boil water, not bean masters like you. I'm sure your pot and lid routine gets you that authentic "I have time to stir" vibe, real rustic stuff. My stove has a timer, but I guess that's another extra appliance I should toss.
