Store brand beans saved me $40 a month in groceries
I used to buy those fancy coffee beans from a local roaster near my place downtown. But I switched to the store brand from Kroger about 3 months ago just to see. I mean, it's honestly the same to me after I grind them fresh and let them sit for a minute. My breakfast budget went from like $50 a month down to about $10 for beans. Has anyone else had good luck swapping out a pricey staple for a generic version without losing quality?

Yeah I did the same thing. Tastes just as good honestly.

Agreed... hard to beat when you're craving one.

You said "tastes just as good honestly" and I keep wondering about that though. Like is it really the same or are we just telling ourselves that after we already spent the money? @joel_martinez I made the switch last month and I swear the first couple days I noticed a difference but now I can't even tell anymore. I tried the generic ketchup first and that was a total fail so I was scared to try store brand versions of other stuff. But for certain things like pasta sauce or canned tomatoes I'm starting to think the name brands are just charging for the label. What else have you swapped out that actually worked for you?
