Vent: That $3 bag of lentils from Aldi saved me $50 on takeout last week and I'm mad about it
I threw a cup of lentils in the slow cooker with some garlic and a sad onion from the bottom of the crisper drawer and honestly it tasted better than the Thai place down the street that charges $14 a bowl, so why did I wait 32 years to try this?

Man, right?! That's the thing that gets me too. I've been eating lentils for years and it's honestly ridiculous how good they are for basically nothing. You throw in some basic spices and a little time and you've got a meal that beats most takeout hands down. It's like we've been brainwashed into thinking cooking is hard when really it's just... chopping an onion and pushing a button.

Wait, hold on @shanelee. Hold on. You're telling me you've been doing this for YEARS and just now realizing how absurdly cheap and good it is? Man, I remember stumbling on red lentil soup around three years ago and I felt like I discovered fire. I made this one batch with just onion, garlic, a little turmeric and cumin, and I swear it tasted like something from a restaurant. But it cost maybe two bucks total and I ate it for four days straight. The way they break down and get creamy without even blending them is wild. I still get annoyed thinking about all the cash I dropped on sad takeout soup that wasn't half as satisfying.

Dude YES! I did the exact same thing last month with a bag of red lentils and a sad potato, and now I'm genuinely annoyed at all the money I wasted on DoorDash when this sat in my pantry the whole time.
