Booked a "budget" flight through a third party site, lost $150 when the airline changed the schedule

I booked a cheap flight to Chicago through one of those aggregator sites last month, saved about $40 over booking direct with the airline. Then the airline moved the flight time by 5 hours and the third party site refused to refund or change it without a $100 fee. Has anyone actually had success getting money back from these middleman booking sites?

...and that's exactly why I stopped using those aggregator sites altogether. I had the same thing happen with a flight to Denver last year. I called my credit card company and disputed the charge, told them I paid for a service that wasn't delivered. They credited me back the full amount within a week. I also learned to always book direct with the airline, even if it costs a little more. The headache just isn't worth saving a few bucks.

Learned that lesson the hard way too.

Man I had a buddy who did the same thing... bought a cheap torque wrench from a garage sale and it stripped half the bolts on his engine rebuild. Cost him way more in the end.
