Found a $3 overnight bus trick in Bangkok that saved me a hotel night
I booked a VIP sleeper bus from Bangkok to Chiang Mai that leaves at midnight and arrives at 7am, so I got my sleep, my transport, and skipped a hostel fee for just $3 extra than the daytime fare, has anyone else used night buses to cut lodging costs?

The whole "skipped a hostel fee" part is what got me. I used to think night buses were just for cheap travelers or people who couldn't handle flying, so I never bothered. But last year I did a similar run in Vietnam and it honestly changed how I see it. You wake up in a new city, you're not tired, and you bank that hotel cash for something better like food or a tour. I'm actually kicking myself for all the nights I paid for a bed I barely used when I could've been rolling down the highway instead.
