Hostel kitchen cooking saved me more than any meal deal ever did

Everyone always says the best budget travel hack is grocery store sandwiches or street food. But I stayed at a hostel in Budapest for 5 nights and started using their kitchen instead. I made pasta, stir fry, and even a decent chili for about $2 a meal. The real savings came from not needing to buy bottled water because I could just boil tap water and refill my bottle for free.

Ngl Budapest tap water is actually safe to drink without boiling it first.

yeah @shanelee you're totally right, I drank it straight from the tap too and felt like a genius saving all that money on plastic bottles
