Hostels aren't worth the savings anymore
Stayed at the HI hostel in Seattle last week, paid $55 for a bunk in a room with 8 people and someone stole my charging cable. At that price I could've grabbed a private room at a cheap motel a few blocks away and actually slept. Am I the only one who thinks hostel prices have gotten ridiculous?

Right, that social part can be huge if you're traveling alone and want to meet people. But the prices are definitely creeping up to where the math doesn't work like it used to.

Jumping off what price.gavin said, the price creep is real. I stayed at a hostel in Portland last month and it was almost $70 a night for a bunk bed in a 10 person room. For that money, I could have found a private room on Airbnb with my own damn bathroom.

Respectfully disagree, met some great people at hostels and that's worth more than a quiet room to me.
