I booked a hostel in Prague with a kitchen and saved way more than I thought

I cooked three dinners there last week instead of eating out, and it only cost about 25 euros total for groceries. What are your favorite cities for finding hostels with good kitchens?

Ever try cooking in a Berlin hostel? The kitchens are usually huge and you can find cheap groceries at places like Lidl. I get what @the_emery says about crowds, but I've had good luck going late in the evening. Budapest was another solid spot for this, lots of hostels with decent setups. Honestly, a little planning around the busy times makes all the difference.

That Prague math seems a bit too perfect. Grocery prices there aren't that low anymore. I've found hostel kitchens are usually too crowded to actually save much time.

You make a fair point, @the_emery, about prices changing. It's true that costs can go up anywhere. But getting too focused on perfect savings can ruin the fun of a trip. Sometimes a crowded kitchen is just part of the travel story, not a real problem. It's good to be smart with money, but it doesn't have to be a serious math test every single day.
