It took me 11 days to figure out you can refill a water bottle past airport security
I flew out of Atlanta on a Tuesday morning and paid $4.50 for a bottle of water at the gate like I always do. On the way home I watched a guy in front of me in the security line pull an empty bottle out of his bag, and I asked him about it while we were waiting. He said he just brings it empty through the checkpoint and fills it at a water fountain on the other side, and that he has not paid for airport water in about six years. I felt like a total idiot because I have been traveling this way for over a decade and never once thought of it. The next trip I tried it and it worked with zero issues, the TSA agent didn't even look at it. I ran the numbers and between me and my wife we were dropping roughly $30 per trip on bottled water at airports. Now I keep a collapsed bottle in my carry on at all times and just fill it after I get through. Anyone else have a hack this dumb that took you way too long to find out about?
