Just read that some hostels in Berlin have free walking tours if you book a bed, which seems way better than paying 15 euros elsewhere.
Honestly, I found this out on a travel blog while planning a trip and it got me thinking, is it better to always pick the place with the free perk, or could the cheaper bed without the tour actually save you more cash overall?

Yeah, but that free tour might be at a weird time or go to places you don't care about. Sometimes the cheaper bed and paying for exactly what you want works out better.

Totally get the "weird time" thing. I once got stuck on a free sunrise walking tour after a very long night out. Let's just say my review of the historic district was mostly about bench availability. You're right, saving a few bucks isn't always worth the weird schedule.

My friend booked us a 5:30am "hidden waterfall" hike to save fifteen bucks. We stood in the dark for an hour waiting for enough light to see anything, and the trail was just a muddy creek bed. I was so tired I almost face-planted into the actual waterfall. Never again, I'd rather sleep in and just pay the normal tour price.
