My cousin told me to skip travel insurance for a short trip to Montreal.

He said it was a waste of $75 for a three day visit. Ended up with a sprained ankle on day one and a $300 urgent care bill. Do you always get insurance now, even for short trips?

Yeah, I learned that lesson the hard way too. It's not just about big disasters, it's the small stuff that adds up fast. For a three day trip, that $75 would have saved you a lot of stress and cash. I just factor it into the trip cost now, like a ticket or a hotel room. It's one less thing to worry about when something goes wrong.

Honestly, I never skip it anymore, not even for a weekend. Tbh, that small fee feels like paying for peace of mind. I just had a friend get hit with a crazy bill for a simple ear infection while abroad. It's not about the trip length, it's about what could go wrong at any time. I just add it to my booking like it's a non-negotiable tax now.

Ouch, that's rough. Your cousin's advice got expensive fast. I always get it now, even for a quick trip.
