My cousin's 'fly on Tuesday' tip saved me 90 bucks to Nashville

My cousin swore flights are always cheaper on Tuesdays. I figured it was one of those old travel myths people repeat without checking. Last month I needed to get from Chicago to Nashville and the Tuesday flight was 90 bucks less than the Friday one I was about to book. Same route, same airline, just 3 days apart. I checked a few other cities for kicks and the pattern held up most times. Is this actually a real thing airlines do, or did I just get lucky with one route?

Same thing happened to me flying to Denver last spring. The Tuesday flight was way cheaper than the weekend one I had my eye on, like 70 bucks difference. I've noticed it holds up more often than not, so I always check midweek dates first now.
