Overpacked for a 3-day trip to Portland, never again

Flew into PDX last month for a wedding and brought a carry-on plus a backpack. I wore maybe 40 percent of what I packed. The hotel had laundry for $3 a load, could have lived out of a duffel. My cousin did the same trip with one small bag and I felt like a pack mule the whole time. Anyone else cutting down to just a personal item for short trips?
