TIL most people pack their carry-on bags completely wrong for budget airlines

I flew Ryanair from Dublin to Barcelona last weekend and watched about 20 people get charged at the gate for bags that were too big. They all had these big roller suitcases that technically fit the size limits but bulged out because they stuffed them full. I just use a soft duffel bag that I can squish down, and I only pack about 5 days worth of clothes and roll them tight. It saved me 60 euros just on that one flight. Why do people insist on bringing half their wardrobe? Has anyone else figured out a good system for avoiding those fees?

People treat packing like they're moving out instead of just traveling for a weekend.

My last trip to Chicago I literally watched a girl pull out a full sized hair straightener and three pairs of shoes for a two night stay. Like girl, you are going to a concert and brunch, not filming a reality show. I swear some people pack their whole closet out of fear they might miss one outfit opportunity.

Out of fear they might miss one outfit opportunity" is basically my life motto, I literally packed 4 pairs of shoes for a 3 day trip to see my mom once. I'm convinced half my suitcase is just me trying to compensate for my inability to commit to an outfit in advance.
