Uncle Rick swore the $5 airport shuttle in Mexico City was a scam, I ended up splitting a $60 cab
My uncle grew up in Mexico City and when I went last month he told me to just grab a taxi from the airport, that the shuttle was for tourists and would rip me off. I listened to him and the taxi line was insane, ended up waiting 45 minutes and paying $60 to get to my place in Condesa. The next day my Airbnb host asked why I didn't take the shuttle and showed me it was $5 and ran every 15 minutes. I felt like such an idiot standing there with my big suitcase. Now I'm wondering how much other stuff he told me was just old info from 20 years ago. Has anyone else gotten bad travel advice from a local relative that cost them real money?
