Appreciation post: The week I packed my own lunch for every single shift
Last month I had a week where I drove from Tulsa to Little Rock and back, and I packed all my meals ahead. No gas station burritos or fast food coffee. I spent maybe $30 on groceries instead of the usual $80 to $100 on road food. It honestly felt good to just open my cooler and have a sandwich ready at a rest stop. The only rough part was forgetting extra napkins for a messy BBQ wrap. Anybody else find that planning ahead on meals saves more than you expect?

That BBQ wrap situation is real, I've been there with the napkin shortage lol. It's wild how much you save though, I bet you were close to cutting that food bill in half for the week. I started doing this on my long work days and I swear it's like free money compared to grabbing stuff on the run. The sandwiches always taste better at a rest stop too, something about the fresh air makes it hit different.

That 'free money compared to grabbing stuff on the run' line hit me hard. So what's the worst thing you ever tried to eat one-handed while driving that you just had to pull over for?

Wait, is there anything better than a roadside sandwich though? I swear the smell of diesel and trees adds flavor or something. But yeah, those napkin shortages are a real situation, I always pack extra now.
