Cash envelopes beat my budgeting app after 4 months

I tracked every dollar in an app for a year and still overspent on food every month. Switched to cash envelopes in March and put $300 in groceries weekly, no card allowed. Seeing the envelope thin out makes me stop sooner, anyone else find paper money harder to waste than numbers?
