Found a mistake in my auto-payment setup that saved $18 a month
I was looking through my bank statement yesterday at the local library while waiting for my hold to come in. Noticed a subscription I signed up for 2 years ago was still hitting my account every month even though I never use it. Called the company right there and canceled it, and they even refunded the last 3 months since I had proof of no activity. That's over $200 back in my pocket total. Anyone else found random charges they forgot about?

Opened my credit card statement last month and found I'd been paying for some "premium" weather app for 15 months straight. Fifteen months of paying for the privilege of knowing it's going to rain (which I could just, you know, look outside for). Called them up and got a refund for most of it, but man, that feeling when you realize you've been throwing money into the void for over a year is something else. My bank account is still side-eyeing me for that one.

My buddy Mark did the exact same thing but with a ringtone app. Signed up for some trial in like 2018 and forgot about it. Six years later he notices these tiny $3.99 charges from some company called "ToneFusion" or something wild like that. He'd been paying for ringtones he never even downloaded. Ended up being like over $280 down the drain for a few cat meow sounds he never used. The refund lady on the phone actually laughed at him.
