Thrifting is honestly the way to go for coats especially. I found a legit Columbia jacket for like 12 bucks last winter, just had to replace a button. Plus you can layer it with a hoodie underneath if it's not super warm. Sometimes the Goodwill near the rich neighborhoods has name brand stuff that barely looks worn.
