Heads up on those 'budget meal kit' trial offers

Signed up for one that was $1.95 for the first box, but forgot to cancel and got charged $75 for a second one I didn't want. Anyone have a good system for remembering to cancel free trials?

Honestly, I just set a calendar reminder on my phone for two days before the trial ends. It takes thirty seconds and saves so much headache. Why trust yourself to remember when your phone can do it for you? That $75 charge is brutal, but feels like an avoidable tax on being busy.

Totally get that, but @matthewmartin, I've had reminders fail to go off before. I set a second one for the actual day the trial ends now.

Matthew's calendar reminder is a good start, but setting it for two days before is cutting it close. Some of these services require 48 hours notice to cancel, so you'd still get charged. The reminder needs to be for at least three days before the trial ends. I learned that one the hard way with a streaming service.
