I lost $120 on a subscription I forgot to cancel for 8 months

I signed up for a monthly meal planning service back in January thinking I'd use it every week, then never logged in again, and only noticed the charges when my bank statement showed $120 gone - has anyone else had a sneaky subscription drain their budget like that?

The real trick with these services is they know most people forget, so they make cancelling just annoying enough that you give up. I had a similar thing with a cloud storage plan that charged me for six months after I stopped using it. What got me was the fine print said they don't do refunds unless you cancel within like 48 hours of the charge, so I was stuck. Now I set a calendar reminder the day after any free trial starts to check if I'm still using it. Have you tried disputing it with your bank yet?

Tbh the 48 hour refund rule is such a scam, I just call my bank now to block future payments.

I mean yeah it sucks but it's 120 bucks over eight months not exactly life ruining money you know? Feels like everyone's got some subscription horror story these days and honestly if it's not draining your account to zero it's probably not worth the stress of fighting with customer service for hours over it.
