My sister called me out for buying store brand trash bags that never fit
She said I was just throwing money away if they split every time I pulled them out. I switched to the contractor grade ones from the hardware store and now a box lasts me 4 months with zero rips, so I actually saved like $6 a month. Anyone else have a tiny swap that made a bigger difference than you expected?

Wait, is that the secret to life just buying the heavy duty bags from the hardware store instead? I spent years cursing those flimsy store brands that split open the second you put a banana peel in them. Your sister might have a point about wasting money, but you just proved that spending a little more upfront actually saves you a headache and a few bucks in the long run.

Are you saying hardware stores are just better at making bags than grocery stores? Seems like a weird thing to be good at but here we are. @faith_thomas you nailed it though. I bought a box of those heavy duty contractor bags years ago and still have half of them left. They handle anything you throw at them including actual trash from a renovation. The cheap ones just can't take the weight and you end up double bagging anyway which costs more in the long run. So yeah spend the extra dollar or two up front and stop getting mad at torn bags.

Wait, are you telling me the heavy duty bags from hardware stores are actually cheaper in the long run? I always thought those were overpriced until I did the math on how many cheap ones I blow through. Guess I've been wasting money this whole time without even realizing it.
