My washing machine died in the middle of a load last Tuesday

I was doing laundry for my family of four when my 12 year old washer just stopped mid cycle with a loud bang and steam coming out the back. Turns out the motor burned out and it would cost $400 to fix a machine that's barely worth $200 now. Has anyone else had luck finding a decent budget washer under $500 that actually lasts?

and tbh @val_williams is right about that, Marketplace can be a goldmine if you're patient. i've found some really solid stuff on there just by checking every day for a week or two. the trick is to set up alerts for what you're looking for so you don't miss new listings. also remember to haggle a bit, most people overprice stuff anyway. good luck, hope you find what you need.
