Shoutout to the produce manager at my local HEB for marking down bruised apples 60% off

I grabbed a bag of Honeycrisps for $1.60 last week and turned them into a week's worth of applesauce and baked oatmeal, has anyone else found good deals by just asking about the discount rack at their grocery store?

My friend Liz was at a Superstore once and saw a sign for pork chops at $5 off. She asked a stock guy about it and he kinda mumbled something about checking the back. Liz waited like 15 minutes and he came out with a whole cart of discount meat just sitting there. She said it was like a secret club back there with markdowns on everything. Now she always asks if there's "anything in the back" and half the time they actually bring stuff out.
