Switched from a weekly cash envelope to a digital sinking fund for car repairs

Used to pull out $40 every Friday for my 'car stuff' envelope. Never seemed to cover the big bills. Opened a separate online savings account last January, set up an auto transfer of $50 each payday. When my brakes needed work in March, the $300 was already sitting there. Anyone else find digital buckets work better than physical cash for big yearly costs?

Dip into that digital fund" is my whole life. I just moved money from savings to cover a vet bill.
