The cashier who made me question my whole grocery budget

Honestly, I was at Aldi last month and the cashier noticed I was splitting my order into two trips to stay under $50. She said, "You know, I used to do that too until I started meal planning around the weekly ad, not the other way around." That comment stuck with me because I was just buying what was on sale, not what I actually needed. Now I spend 15 minutes on Sunday mapping out dinners first, then checking the flyer, and I've cut my food spending from $420 to $310 a month. Has anyone else had a random employee tip that completely flipped their system?

My Aldi cashier once told me the store brand peanut butter was identical to name brand and now I trust that woman with my entire financial future. $110 saved is nice, but I'd still rather hear her life advice than my accountant's.
