Vent: My $50 meal prep plan fell apart by Thursday last week

Spent $80 at Costco last Sunday planning 5 days of healthy meals, but by Thursday I'd already ordered takeout twice because I forgot to actually prep the chicken. Those containers just sat in the fridge mocking me while I blew $35 on pizza. Anyone else's budget get wrecked by good intentions and zero follow-through?

The key for me was accepting that I'm just not a Sunday meal prep person... no matter how many times I try. I started doing what you do with the freezer bags but I also buy one of those rotisserie chickens from Costco and shred it right when I get home. Then I can throw together tacos or a quick salad or even just microwave some rice and dump the chicken on top. That $5 chicken saves me from ordering out at least twice a week because the protein is already done and sitting there staring at me from the fridge.

...and honestly the only thing that saved me was switching to a "cook as you go" system instead of a full Sunday prep. I buy everything on Saturday, then Sunday morning I just chop veggies and portion the meat into freezer bags with marinade. Then each night I grab one bag, dump it in the pan, and cook it fresh. Takes maybe 10 extra minutes after work but actually gets eaten because nothing is sitting in the fridge going bad. Saves me from ordering takeout because I already did the annoying part earlier.

My friend tried that freezer bag method and it backfired because she forgot to thaw one out and ended up staring at a frozen brick of chicken at 6pm. She said she caved and ordered pizza that night, lol. Do you do anything special to remind yourself to take a bag out in the morning?
