Vent: My fridge compressor died on a Sunday, and the emergency repair quote was $800.
I decided to unplug it, move everything to coolers, and spent 2 hours on YouTube figuring out how to replace the overload relay myself for $35, which actually worked.

That's a reckless move and you got lucky. Most people would fry the whole unit trying to mess with electrical parts. You wasted two hours of your time on a gamble that could have cost you a full fridge. Paying the expert is the safe bet to guarantee it's done right and actually lasts.

My old fridge in the Austin apartment had the same ice maker issue. I would have totally called a pro before, but after watching a 15 minute video and spending $12 on the replacement part, it's been running fine for eight months now. Honestly, sometimes the fix is way simpler than it seems.
