My habit tracker turned into a complete mess after I added too many symbols
Last month I decided to spice up my bullet journal habit tracker with a bunch of different icons for each activity - stars for exercise, dots for water, hearts for reading. By day 3 I could not remember which symbol meant what and kept flipping back to my key page every 5 minutes. I ended up skipping the tracker for a whole week because it was too annoying to decode. When I finally looked back, I had gaps everywhere and no clue what I actually did those days. I learned that simple checkboxes work way better for me than fancy symbols. Has anyone else tried a creative tracker system and had it backfire?

Day 3 symbol confusion is exactly why I stick to plain X's and circles now.

You know what, that's EXACTLY why my old D&D group switched to using different colored beads for buffs. We had this one guy who drew a sun on his character sheet to mark "bless" and then drew it again for "light" and TOTALLY mixed them up during a boss fight. Ended up running into a wall thinking he was blessed. Plain X's and circles would have saved that whole encounter.
