That time a coworker told me my layouts were 'too messy' and it stuck with me

Honestly, this happened about 6 months ago at a weekly check-in in my office. This guy I barely know looked at my bullet journal spread and said, 'You know, it's not a scrapbook, right?' with this smug little grin. It really got under my skin because I was proud of how I mixed trackers with some doodles. But then I started second-guessing every page, wondering if it was too cluttered for actual use. Has anyone else had someone gatekeep your journal in a way that made you change how you do things?

Isn't a bullet journal supposed to be whatever works for you, not anyone else's rules?

3 years of using one and i finally realized the real trick is ditching the entire index. i just number pages in pencil and when a collection is dead i erase the number and reuse the page for something else. saves so much space and stops that panic of "wasting" a nice spread.

Isn't the whole point just making it fit your own life?
