A client told me my website looked like a 2005 Geocities page and they were right

I run a small fencing company and for years, my website was just a basic page with my phone number and a few blurry photos. I figured it was fine because my work came from word of mouth. Then, about six months ago, a repeat customer who I respect a lot said, "Anthony, your work is top notch, but your website looks like a 2005 Geocities page. It doesn't match your quality." That hit me hard. I realized my online presence was actually turning people away before they even called. I spent the next two weeks building a simple new site on Squarespace with clear photos of finished jobs, a list of services with prices, and easy contact forms. My quote requests went up by almost 30% in the first two months. It was a wake-up call that even a hands-on trade business needs to look professional online. Has anyone else had a piece of harsh feedback that actually helped your business grow?
