Burned $600 on a Facebook ad course that was all hype

I signed up for this online course promising to teach me Facebook ads for my landscaping business. The guy had a slick sales page and tons of testimonials. Spent $600 and three weekends going through the modules. Turned out it was just basic info I could have found for free on YouTube. The 'advanced strategies' were just him pushing his own overpriced tools. Has anyone else had better luck with a specific course or should I just hire a consultant?

That $600 could have bought you a few months of actual ad testing instead of someone's recycled YouTube tips. Starting with the Facebook ads library is honestly the best free way to see what works - just type in "landscaping" and see what ads your competitors are actually running right now. A consultant might be better since they can look at your specific numbers and fix what's not working, but make sure they give you a clear plan before you pay anything. The real trick with Facebook ads for local services is targeting by zip code and using before/after photos, not fancy funnel hacks. Most of these courses are just repackaged stuff from Facebook's own free blueprint training, which is actually pretty good if you have the patience to go through it.

Skip the courses and test $20 of ads yourself. The Facebook ads library is free and shows you exactly what's working right now for your competitors. Focus on zip codes and before/after shots, not fancy funnels.

Exactly. Most of what's in those courses is just common sense once you've run a few $20 tests. The library will show you more in an hour than any course will in a week.
