Can we talk about the sandwich shop on Fremont that had a line out the door at 2pm on a Tuesday?
I was walking to grab lunch near my office in Portland last week and saw like 20 people waiting outside this tiny spot on Fremont. I peeked in and the owner was just standing at the counter chatting with people instead of speeding up the line, and I almost wrote it off as bad service. But then I noticed every single person leaving was smiling and two of them were telling the next folks in line what to order. That shop has been there 11 years and still has a line, meanwhile three other lunch spots on that same block have turned over in the same time. Is slow and personal actually the growth plan, or am I reading too much into one lunch run?
Guessing you're reading too much into it, honestly, since 20 people could just be a normal Tuesday rush for a spot that's been around 11 years. Standing at the counter chatting might just be the owner's personality, not some master plan.
