Found out 90% of startups fail because they don't talk to customers enough, read it in a Harvard Business Review article last night

I spent 6 months building a product nobody wanted because I was too scared to ask people what they actually needed, has anyone else wasted time on a feature list from your own head instead of just asking 10 strangers?

Built an entire app in a vacuum once. Still hurts.

Oof, I feel you so hard on this. I did the same thing once with a little game I made, spent like three weekends straight on it, and then realized I had no one to show it to. It's this weird hollow victory, you know? Like you built this cool thing but the only person who gets excited about it is you. I remember just staring at the code and thinking "what was the point of all this if nobody even knows it exists?" It's a bummer, but honestly I'd probably do it again. There's something sort of magical about making something for the sake of making it, even if it's just for yourself.

Whoa, wait - you built an entire app and nobody even knew about it until now? That's wild to me. I mean, I can barely keep a secret about what I had for lunch, let alone a whole project like that.
