I finally saw why my old shop on Main St. died and the new spot on 8th is packed
Last Friday I walked past my old storefront on Main St. and it's still empty 14 months after I moved out. What caught my eye was the new place two blocks over, a little coffee shop that opened in March, and they had a line out the door at 7am. I stood there counting, 23 people in 10 minutes, and realized the difference wasn't the product. My old spot had free parking right in front but nobody walked by, while the new spot sits next to a bus stop and a gym. Foot traffic beats convenience for a small shop every time. Has anyone else moved locations and seen a jump like that, or is it just luck with the block you pick?
