I thought 'micro-influencers' were a waste of time for my small shop

I run a small outdoor gear store in Boise and always thought you needed big names to get real sales. Last fall, I gave a local hiking blogger with 8,000 followers a free jacket, thinking nothing would happen. In the next 30 days, we got 47 direct sales from her link and a 15% bump in foot traffic she mentioned us to. The numbers were small but real, and the customers kept coming back. It convinced me that a small, loyal audience can be way better than a huge, vague one. Has anyone else seen a good return from working with smaller creators in a specific niche?

Actually, it was 47 sales from her LINK. The foot traffic bump was a separate thing she helped with. But yeah, that focused audience is pure gold.
