Just hit 50 repeat customers in my first 6 months of freelancing
I started a small graphic design side gig back in January mostly for extra cash. This week I counted and realized 50 clients have come back for a second or third project. I didn't do any paid ads just posted my work on a local Facebook group and asked for referrals after each job. Has anyone else seen steady growth from just word of mouth over time?

Got a buddy who tried the same thing with his pressure washing side hustle. He just cleaned a few driveways for neighbors and posted before and after shots on Nextdoor. After about four months he was booked solid every weekend without spending a dime on ads. I remember him telling me one job led to three more just from one lady talking to her book club. He said the hardest part was actually turning down work because he couldn't keep up. It worked way better than he ever expected.

Wish I could say the same for my attempt at a dog walking side hustle. My neighbor's golden retriever basically dragged me through three yards before I gave up and just paid him to walk himself. What kind of pressure washer did your buddy use?

The "one job led to three more just from one lady talking to her book club" part is exactly how it works. I see it with my graphic design work all the time. One client tells their buddy at work, that buddy tells their cousin, and suddenly you're booked for the month without lifting a finger. No ads, no fuss, just annoying good referrals. It's boring but it really does build up steady over time.
