Lost a $12k contract because I ignored one email
Back in March I was bidding on a commercial property cleanup in Austin, the kind of job that would have covered my slow season. The client's assistant emailed me a question about liability insurance, and I figured I could answer it on Monday. By Friday they had signed with another company that replied within the hour. I learned the hard way that in this business, speed is a selling point, not just price. Now I check my inbox every night before I shut down the office, no exceptions. Has anyone else lost work just because you were too slow to hit reply?

Seems like a harsh way to learn it, but one weekend really cost you that much?
