PSA: I figured the local business meetup in Denver was a waste, but a $12 coffee got me 2 new accounts
Some guy at the table mentioned he needed a steady supplier for a weird part and it turned out we stocked it at the shop, so I passed his info to my boss and we landed him. Curious if anyone here has gotten real work from those low key meetups or was it just me getting lucky?
One meetup out of twelve giving you a hit is not a win, that is blind luck with a side of free coffee. For every guy who walks out with a client, ten others just sat there while somebody pitched crypto or a juice cleanse. You also had a leg up because your shop already stocked the part, which means the meeting did almost none of the work. Most of these events are just people collecting business cards they will never call.
