PSA: Seeing a real change in how shops build loyalty around here
I've noticed more small businesses focusing on good customer service instead of just competing on price. Take the family-owned bakery down the street, they started asking about your day and remembering your usual order. People keep going back because of that personal touch, and they bring their friends too. From my own experience as a concrete contractor, a quick call after a patio is finished often leads to another job from a neighbor. It seems growth now comes from these everyday connections, not just advertising. If a business doesn't pay attention to this, they could miss out on steady growth.

Seriously? That call after work gets more jobs from neighbors?

Been telling my guys for years, that follow up call is money left on the table. It takes two minutes and makes people feel seen, which is what actually brings them back. Why wouldn't you do the simple stuff that builds a real customer base?

Yeah, @tylerj22, that follow up call is a total game changer. When I ran my landscaping service, I made it a rule to check in a week after a big mulch job or new planting. It wasn't about selling more right then, it was just asking if everything was growing in okay. That one call led to three more jobs on the same street because people actually answered the phone for a friendly check-in. It shows you care past the invoice, and that's what turns a one-time client into someone who calls you for everything. Businesses forget that growth is just a bunch of those small, real moments stacked up.
