Saw the weirdest 'growth hack' at a coffee shop in Denver
I was grabbing a coffee at this place called The Grindhouse, and they had a huge sign by the register that said 'Tip 20% and get a free fortune cookie with your business growth prediction inside.' The cookie I got said 'Your next big client will arrive by scooter.' It was so specific and silly, but honestly, it made me laugh and I did remember the place more. Has anyone else seen a business try something this oddly specific to get people talking?

That's the kind of thing that would make me roll my eyes and then tell three people about it later. A free fortune cookie for a twenty percent tip is a pretty bold move. The scooter client bit is so random it almost circles back to being clever. They definitely got you talking, so I guess it worked.

A free fortune cookie for a twenty percent tip is actually insane. They must have a whole warehouse of those things to give away. The confidence is almost impressive.

Nah, the real move is when they put the fortune cookie on the check presenter, like it's part of the deal. That's the confidence. The scooter client thing is just weird filler, but the cookie as a tip reward is a classic cheap move. Seen it a bunch with mints back in the day, but a cookie takes it to another level. It's so bad it's almost funny.
