Showerthought: I was all for layoffs to grow the business until a chat with my neighbor
I used to think letting staff go was just a normal step when a company needs to expand. Then my neighbor, who got laid off from his job, explained how it messed up his plans to buy a house. That conversation made me realize the real impact on people's lives. Now I believe growth should come from smart ideas, not just cutting costs. What's your take on balancing growth with keeping jobs safe?

Yeah, I used to see layoffs as just a business choice, you know? Like a normal thing companies do. But then my cousin went through it, and it totally wrecked her chance to finally move out of her apartment. Seeing that up close, it's not just numbers. It's real plans getting canceled. Maybe growth should be about working smarter with the team you have, not just making it smaller. That seems way more solid for everyone in the long run.

Guess I was clueless about layoffs until @alicehernandez's story hit home, like my failed lemonade stand.

Gotta push back a little here lol. Businesses cut costs to survive sometimes, it's just how it works. Your cousin's situation sucks, but is one story really the whole picture? People find new jobs, some even land in better spots. Calling every layoff a plan-wrecker feels like a stretch.
