The 5 email follow up rule nobody talks about

I was sending follow up emails to leads and getting nothing back for like 2 weeks straight. Then I tried sending 5 follow ups instead of my usual 3 and my response rate jumped from like 8% to 22% in a month. I work with small shops in Portland area and the 4th email is usually the one that finally gets them to reply. Has anyone else messed with their follow up counts and seen a real difference?

Yeah the 4th one is where it's at for me too. The breakup email always surprises me.

Stick with it but switch up the subject lines every time. I tested this same thing a few years back and the 4th email always did the best. The trick is to not just resend the same message. Change the value you're offering. By the 4th one, I usually reference something specific about their business or a problem they likely have. That cut through the noise way more than just asking if they got my last email. People are busy and your first few emails just get buried. The 5th one is just a clean break up email, nothing pushy.
