Walked through a new strip mall in Springfield and saw something weird with the storefronts

I was over in Springfield last week to price some materials, and I drove past this brand new strip mall they just finished. What caught my eye was that out of the eight storefronts, three of them were already empty and had 'For Lease' signs, but the other five were packed with customers. I pulled over to look closer, and the difference was super clear. The busy stores all had big, bright signs you could read from the road, and their windows were clean and showed what they sold. The empty ones had these tiny, fancy script signs and dark windows. It made me think, if you're spending all that money to open a spot, why make it hard for people to even know you're there? It seems like such a basic thing to get wrong. Has anyone else seen a place fail just because it looked closed from the street?

That first card is a classic for a reason though.

I still have my first business card from 1998 in a drawer. The font is so dated, but the heavy card stock feels solid, like a real promise. You're right, @rubyshah, that classic design sticks because it builds trust before a single word is said. My newer cards are slick, but they don't have that same weight in your hand. It's the difference between a firm handshake and a quick text.
