Finally got my LLC paperwork to stop collecting dust after 6 months
I sat down at the downtown public library last Tuesday and knocked out the whole operating agreement in one go after realizing the template from LegalZoom was way more complicated than what a single freelancer actually needs, has anyone else found their own version of simple beats comprehensive?

Keep your operating agreement to one page. Simple trumps fancy every time.

Roll my eyes every time I see a 10 page operating agreement that nobody actually reads. Honestly, one page is plenty if you know what you're doing. Ngl, I've seen operating agreements longer than a lease and somehow still missing the important stuff like how to actually dissolve the thing when someone wants out. Tbh, keep it short, keep it real, and save the tree-killing for something that actually matters like your tax returns or whatever.

Wrote mine on a napkin at a coffee shop after my third cup, then typed it up that night. It was basically just how money gets split, who can sign checks, and a one sentence clause about what happens if someone wants to leave (they get bought out at fair market value, done). That thing sat in a drawer for 2 years before I ever needed it, but having something simple made it easy to actually update when I took on a partner later.
