Finally got our employee handbook updated after letting it slide for 3 years.

We went from a 12-page document full of vague 'we expect professionalism' statements to a 35-page one with clear policies on remote work, social media use, and a real anti-harassment procedure, which our lawyer in Charlotte said should cut our liability risk significantly.

Doesn't a longer handbook just give people more rules to accidentally break?

Yeah, but a short one just leaves you guessing...

Our company handbook is 12 pages and I've never read past page three. Most people just want to know where the coffee is and how to call in sick. Are we really expecting a novel on office etiquette to change that?
